OSKALOOSA — Night number two of the 23 racing season at the Southern Iowa Speedway went off without a hitch with the final checkered of the night waving at 9:46 pm.
The Oskaloosa Quality Rentals Sportmods saw another battle between a couple young talents from the area battle it out. The tables were turned this week as Brayton Carter got revenge from the season opener by scoring the win ahead of Maguire DeJong. Carter took the top spot early in the race from Logan Anderson and went on to hold off the constant challenges of DeJong late in the main event. Anderson followed the top two in third ahead of Curtis VanDerWal.
Miciah Hidlebaugh made a very rare appearance at the Southern Iowa Speedway on Wednesday night and made the tow from Menlo payoff by taking the checkers first in the MidState Machine Stock Cars. Hidlebaugh drew the pole position for the 16 lap main and went on to score the win ahead of Dustin Griffith who had a great night at SIS. With Hidlebaugh out front the second spot was up for grabs with Griffiths winning the battle ahead of Todd Reitzler and Steve Byers.
The Parker Tree Service Hobby Stocks are going to be the biggest class at SIS in 23 and Wednesday nights main saw 23 drivers take the green for their 14 lap feature. Brad Stephens led early but it was 9th starting Dustin Griffiths who got to the checkers first. Griffiths found the high side to his liking and worked his way to the front which saw packs of drivers racing three and sometimes four wide. At the checkers it was Griffiths, Jesse Williams ran an outstanding race in taking second ahead of Aaron Martin and Austin Barnes.
Young Garrett Porter scored his second ever feature win at Oskaloosa on Wednesday night in taking the Dirt N Asphalt Sport Compact main event win. Porter’s win was hard fought and the margin of victory was less than ½ a car length a the checkers. Porter took the win ahead of opening night winner Shane Barnes.
Ben Woods scored his second feature win a row in the Clow Valve Company Non-Wing Sprint Cars. Woods took the checkers ahead of Doug Sylvester and Tyler Graves.
Wednesday, May 3rd will be DeJong Manufacturing free popcorn night at the Southern Iowa Speedway. Hot laps will get underway at 7:15 pm with racing to follow.
