BROOKLYN – North Mahaska competed at the Bear Trax Classic Relays at BGM Tuesday. The Warhawks placed sixth in Class A with 73 points. Hampton Dumont-Cal won the meet with103 points edging Pella Christian with 101 and BCLUW with 87.
Lucas Nunnikhoven led NM with 16.5 points, Brayden Veiseth had 12 and Andy Knockel with 11.5. North Mahaska won the distance medley when the team of Nunnikhoven, Knockel, Kaleb Stout and Lane Harmon cover the distance in 4 minutes 1.26 seconds.
Knockel took second in the 200 meters in 23.97 just 8 hundreths of a second behind winner Tyler Bracy of BCLUW. Veiseth was the runnerup in the 3,200 meters in 11:01.29. East Marshall’s Joe Terrones won in 10:23.30. Nunnikhoven earned the third second in the 400 hurdles finishing in 59.52. Nunnikhoven was third in the long jump with a leap of 18-feet 2-inches.
The 3,200-meter relay team ran third in 8:51.10 on the legs of Harmon, Asher DeBoef, Ben Yang and Nate Sampson. NM doubled in just one event. Sampson and DeBoef tied in the high jump with a leap of 5-2.
North Mahaska will run at Eddyville on Thursday.
