VICTOR – Familiarity with a golf course can make a difference. North Mahaska does well when they play at Prairie Knolls in New Sharon. However, Monday’s meet was at a tough course at Victor hosted by BGM. BGM had the top three scores en route to winning the triangular with a 172. North Mahaska scored a 193 ahead of Colfax-Mingo with a 221.
“Last night was a rough night for all our guys,” said NMN coach Eric Stout. “That course is one that you need to play regularly to be able to score well. The top three scores were from BGM which shows they had more course knowledge. We lost by 21 but did manage to beat Colfax Mingo.”
BGM junior Dominic Coleman was medalist with a 38. Beau Burns and Mason Maschmann each carded a 43. Jax Foster was the final scorer for the hosts with a 48.
North Mahaska senior Nash Smith shot a 45 to lead the Warhawks. Jaxon Van Der Veer shot a 48 followed by Brock Walkup and Nolan Andersen with 50s. Jack Kelderman and Trace Goemaat shot a 50 and 53 respectively for North Mahaska but did not figure into the team score.
North Mahaska will host Tri-County Thursday at Prairie Knolls.
