Talking Heads have announced they will re-release their 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense in theaters in a newly restored 4K version.
Along with the announcement, the band released a fun teaser video that shows David Byrne going to the dry cleaners to retrieve his famous oversized grey suit.
A24, which has acquired the film’s worldwide rights, will release the movie in theaters later this year to coincide with its 40th anniversary.
A deluxe edition of the Stop Making Sense soundtrack will be out as well on vinyl and digital formats.
Stop Making Sense, directed by the late Jonathan Demme, was filmed over three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December 1983 when the band performed in support of their fifth album, Speaking in Tongues.
The film stars core band members David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison along with Bernie Worrell, Alex Weir, Steve Scales, Lynn Mabry and Edna Holt.
