Hawkeyes fall to EIU, 92-83

IOWA CITY, IA — The University of Iowa men’s basketball team dropped its non-conference finale, 92-83, to Eastern Illinois on Wednesday afternoon on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Fifth-year Filip Rebraca was the game’s leading scorer with 24 points on 9-of-13 production from the floor. Rebraca was also good for eight rebounds, one block and a game-high five steals.

Redshirt junior Patrick McCaffery finished with his first career double-double, posting a personal-best 13 rebounds to go along with 12 points and four assists.

Sophomore Payton Sandfort scored 18 points for Iowa, including a game-high three triples. Junior Tony Perkins rounded out Iowa’s four double-figures scorers with 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Iowa shot 39 percent (28-of-72) from the floor, 21 percent (7-of-33) from behind the arc and 63 percent (20-of-32) from the free throw line. The Hawkeyes were outrebounded, 42-38, and outscored, 52-38, in the paint.
