All-American honors for a William Penn basketball player. Kevion Blaylock received that honor from the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The senior forward from Houston, Texas averaged 20.8 points and 10.2 rebounds for the Statesmen this past season as the Statesmen won the Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships.
An Oskaloosa High basketball player will be playing for William Penn next season. Keaton Flaherty recently signed a national letter of intent to play for the Statesmen. Flaherty was a second team All-Little Hawkeye Conference pick this season and also received honorable mention on Prep Hoops Iowa dot com’s Class 3A All-State team.
Still on the William Penn campus, the Statesmen baseball team was swept in a doubleheader Monday (3/28). Clarke defeated the Statesmen 5-2 in the first game and 3-1 in 12 innings in the nightcap. The Statesmen will host Clarke in another doubleheader Tuesday (3/29) starting at 1:00.
And the Statesmen men’s lacrosse team defeated Clarke 19-4 Monday in Dubuque. The 8-4 Statesmen are off until Saturday (4/2), when they host Midland.
