Sigourney-Keota is the South Iowa Cedar League wrestling champion. The Cobras finished first in Saturday’s (1/29) conference meet at BGM. Five Sigourney-Keota wrestlers also won individual titles: Reanah Utterback at 106 pounds, DJ Hammes at 132, Jack Clarahan at 170, Cade Streigle at 195 and Connor Reed at 220.
North Mahaska finished fifth in the team competition with Lynnville-Sully sixth, English Valleys/Tri-County eighth and Montezuma tenth.
Individually, North Mahaska’s Paul DeJong won the 126 pound championship. Lynnville-Sully had two champions: Gentry Walston at 120 and Maxwell Mintle at 152. Ty Moore of English Valleys/Tri-County was second at 138 pounds. And Montezuma’s Zach Bennett was third at 182.
The Little Hawkeye Conference wrestling meet was held Saturday in Oskaloosa. Indianola won the team championship with Pella in fourth place, Newton fifth, Oskaloosa and Grinnell tied for sixth.
Oskaloosa had four wrestlers finish in fourth place in their weight classes: Garrett Roethler at 132, Lucas Phillips at 160, Blake Westercamp at 170 and Warren Feudner at 220.
Pella had four champions: Damion Clark at 120, Peyton Ritzerd at 138, Logan Bruxvoort at 160 and Kieran Van Voorst at 182.
Dylan Heater of Grinnell was the 106 pound champion and Newton’s Brennan Amos took first at 152 pounds.
