Neil Young says he wants his music be pulled from Spotify in protest against misinformation spread by podcaster Joe Rogan about the Covid vaccine on the streaming service.
“They can have Rogan or Young. Not both,” Young wrote in a letter to his management team and record label posted on his official website. “I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform.”
Young said he demands removal of his music because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them.
“Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule,” he added.
With an estimated 11 million listeners per episode, the popular “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast is the world’s largest podcast and has tremendous influence, according to Young.
“Spotify has a responsibility to mitigate the spread of misinformation on its platform, though the company presently has no misinformation policy,” Young said.
