Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Rod Stewart and his son Stephen Stewart have pleaded guilty to simply battery after a physical altercation with a security guard during a New Years’ Eve celebration in 2019.
According to a court statement released last Friday, the singer and his son admitted to manhandling security guard Jessie Dixon at the luxury Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, during a private event.
An attorney for the Stewarts, Guy Fronstin said, “No one was injured in the incident and a jury did not find Sir Rod Stewart guilty of the accusation. Instead, Sir Rod Stewart decided to enter a plea to avoid the inconvenience and unnecessary burden on the court and the public that a high profile proceeding would cause.”
The father-son duo will not have appear in court and neither will have to face any ramifications for their actions.
A spokesperson for Palm Beach State Attorney Dave Aronberg said Dixon has agreed to accept this settlement and will not move forward with the lawsuit.
