Oskaloosa will have two runners competing in the State 3A High School Cross Country Meet Friday (10/29) in Fort Dodge. Senior Patrick DeRonde will be making his third trip to State and says his goals have changed each year.
“Each year has been a little bit different. The first year I was super happy to qualify, that’s all I was trying to do in that season. The second year, I had a few more expectations for myself and I didn’t quite reach those. And this year I’m stronger than I’ve ever been before and I have higher expectations than I’ve ever had before and this year it’s all about getting that top 15.”
Senior Sage Adam is making her first trip to State. I asked her if she was aware of where she stood during last week’s State qualifying race.
“I wasn’t really concerned about my time, but I knew what place I needed to be in. It felt like the only option, so I just ran what I could.”
The Class 4A and 3A boys and girls races will be held Friday in Fort Dodge with 2A and 1A Saturday (10/30) in Fort Dodge.
