Peter Jackson has dropped the first official trailer for his highly-awaited documentary about The Beatles.
The Beatles: Get Back, which was initially scheduled for theatrical release on August 27, will drop as a three-part miniseries this fall. Each episode will be about two hours in length and will drop on November 25, 26 and 27, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.
The four-minute trailer, which dropped last Wednesday, shows restored archival footage from the Beatles’ old days and band interviews.
Jackson collected nearly 60 hours of footage captured by Let It Be director Michael Lindsay-Hogg in January 1969. Jackson spent nearly three years restoring and editing the footage recorded during the band’s recording sessions for their 12th studio album.
“In many respects, Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s remarkable footage captured multiple storylines,” Jackson said. “The story of friends and of individuals. It is the story of human frailties and of a divine partnership. It is a detailed account of the creative process, with the crafting of iconic songs under pressure, set amid the social climate of early 1969.”
“But it’s not nostalgia—it’s raw, honest, and human. Over six hours, you’ll get to know The Beatles with an intimacy that you never thought possible,” he added.
