Despite the wet weather, the Little Hawkeye Conference cross country meet was held Monday (10/11) in Pella. Norwalk won the boys race, with Pella third, Newton fifth, followed by Grinnell, Oskaloosa and Pella Christian. Individually, Jackson Mace-Maynard of Newton placed second, Chase Lauman of Pella third, and Oskaloosa’s Patrick DeRonde sixth. That finish gave DeRonde all-conference honors for the third consecutive year. Since 2000, only eight Oskaloosa runners have earned at least three all-conference honors.
In the girls race, Indianola was first, with Pella third, Newton fifth, followed by Grinnell, Pella Christian and Oskaloosa. Individually, Reagan Snieder of Pella finished third, Joslyn Terpstra of Pella Christian fourth, Mary Jacobson of Grinnell 12th and Sage Adam of Oskaloosa 22nd.
There are two conference cross country races scheduled Tuesday (10/12): the South Central Conference meet at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and the South Iowa Cedar League meet at Montezuma.
