Oskaloosa High School’s girls’ swim team has its only home meet of the season Thursday night (10/7), when the Indians host Keokuk, Williamsburg and Vinton-Shellsburg. Oskaloosa Coach Makenzie Kauffman talks about the progress her team has made this season.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the progress. We did a little bit different training regimen this year, which made the first couple of months really tough. But we’re starting to see the benefits of that early work as we’re coming into our final month. So we’re excited to continue to see PRs (personal records) like we were seeing, five, eleven, 15 second drops. along with those good races, which is really how we get those PRs is by racing and that focus on that competitive mindset, which has been really nice to see.”
Thursday’s meet starts at 7 at the Mahaska County YMCA.
