Several runners and teams from the area are in this week’s state high school cross country rankings from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.  Looking at the teams first, Pella is ranked fourth in 3A boys with Newton 20^th.  Pella’s girls are ranked 12^th in Class 3A.  Both of Albia’s cross country teams are ranked in Class 2A with the boys 12^th and the girls 15^th.  In Class 1A boys, North Mahaska is 13^th and Pella Christian 20^th.  And in 1A girls, Pekin is ranked third and Montezuma 17^th.

In the individual cross country rankings, in Class 3A boys, Chase Lauman of Pella is ranked eighth, Patrick DeRonde of Oskaloosa is ninth, Newton’s Jackson Mace-Maynard is 27^th and Newton’s Treycen Garton is 29^th.  In 3A girls, Newton’s Alyssa Shannon is ranked 22^nd.  In Class 1A girls, Greenlee Smock of Lynnville-Sully is ranked seventh, Rylee Dunkin of Twin Cedars is eleventh, Pekin’s Lauren Steigledger is 14^th with her teammate Lauren Derscheid 23^rd.
