The Oskaloosa High volleyball team started its Little Hawkeye Conference season Tuesday night (8/31) with a three set sweep over Dallas Center-Grimes. The Indians scored the first ten points of the opening set, which Osky junior Maleah Walker said made a difference.
“It helped us a lot because the energy was really big and it just set the tone for the other sets and it helped us win all of them.”
Walker had two aces and senior Faith DeRonde four kills in that 10-0 start. The final scores were 25-17, 25-17 and 25-18 as the fifth-ranked Indians improve to 7-0 on the season. DeRonde had 16 kills to lead the Indians offense, with junior Lucy Roach serving six aces. The Indians are off until Saturday (9/4), when they play at a tournament at Cedar Rapids Washington.
