In Class 4A softball Monday, Oskaloosa needed extra innings to play an extra game. The Indians defeated sixth-ranked Norwalk 3-2 in ten innings in Norwalk in the Region 6 semifinals. Olivia Gordon singled home Maleah Walker with one out in the tenth to put the Indians in front. Gordon talks about her game-winning hit.
“I was a little nervous, I’m not going to lie. But I just decided ‘OK., this is it. I’m going to get a hit here and we’re going to get on and it’s going to be great.’ And that’s what happened.”
Faith DeRonde pitched all ten innings to get the victory, her 14th of the season, with eight strikeouts. Oskaloosa now hosts Benton Community Tuesday night (7/13) for the Region championship and a trip to State. The first pitch is at 7:00; KBOE-FM’s live coverage starts at 6:45.
