Oskaloosa’s softball team saw a performance of Sister Act Monday night (6/21) in Norwalk. In game one of a doubleheader, Norwalk’s Hayley Downe allowed three hits and struck out 14 as the Warriors beat the Indians 2-1. Shannon Van Rheenen was the losing pitcher and singled in the Indians’ only run. In game two, Abbie Downe—Hayley’s younger sister—held Osky to two hits in a 3-0 Norwalk victory. Faith DeRonde took the loss. The Indians fall to 7-7 in the Little Hawkeye Conference and 12-12 overall. Oskaloosa plays a single game at Pella Wednesday night (6/23).
In high school baseball Monday, Norwalk swept a doubleheader from Oskaloosa in Norwalk. In game one, Evan Borst homered and struck out nine in six innings as Norwalk beat Osky 8-0. Wes Wilcox took the loss. Then in game two, the Indians committed seven errors as Norwalk scored an 8-3 win. Landon Briggs went three for three with an rbi for Oskaloosa. Jarrett Czerwinski took the loss. Oskaloosa’s now 3-16 overall and 2-11 in the Conference. The Indians play a single game at Pella Wednesday night.
