Friday night (6/4), the softball field at Oskaloosa High School will be named Jay Harms Field in honor of the Indians’ long-time coach. Harms talks about getting the stadium built.
“After our 2016 State Championship and then our 2017 third place finish, we decided to build a new facility. At that time Superintendent Russ Reiter and Activities Director Mr. (Ryan) Parker and myself, we did a little road-hopping and we jumped in the car and drove around, looked at facilities and started getting ideas on what we’d like to put together for a facility. And we have one of the nicer facilities around the area here. This is a great field and great complex and (I’m) very proud to have my name associated with it.”
There will be a ceremony to christen the stadium before the Indians take on Norwalk Friday night. The ceremony starts at 7, with the first pitch at 7:30. You can hear the naming ceremony for Jay Harms Field as well as the Indians softball game live on KBOE-FM…again, our coverage starts at 7.
