Former Styx frontman Dennis DeYoung has released a brand-new single ahead of the release of his last-ever album.
Titled “Isle of Misanthrope,” the new track arrived on Wednesday, April 7, and is part of DeYoung’s forthcoming album, 26 East, Vol. 2, the second part of the two-volume effort that is slated to be his last contribution to the world of recorded music.
“The lyrics are a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma,” DeYoung said in a statement, attempting to capture the essence of the new single. “It’s got a good beat but won’t be a hit at the disco.”
Designed originally to fit the length of one album, DeYoung was eventually forced to split the effort in two. The first volume was released in May of 2020, with the follow-up slated to arrive on June 11.
