The old saying is “same story different day.” However if the story continued the same as the previous day Osky Indians would advance to the state championship game. (Spoiler Alert) They Would! With Groet taking the circle once again, the Indians girls had to feel confident that her right arm could take them anywhere. And she was just as good on this day.
After Groet served up two scoreless innings, the Indians would strike first with a run coming from a place you wouldn’t expect it, a freshmen designated player. Ashley Kindley knocked in Alexis Vroegh with two out in the bottom half of the second. After another scoreless frame by Groet, Osky would add two more on back to back to back doubles by Silliman, Jones and Miller.
That would be all they would need on this day. As Groet settled in only allowing one run, a solo shot by Kenady Waugh in the top of the 6th. The Oskaloosa girls answered back with 4 runs of their on in the bottom half with two of those runs knocked in by the freshman Kindley. All but making the lead unreadable for the Trojans of Fairfield. Groet would shut the door sending the Indians to their first ever softball championship game.
You can listen to that game on 99.5 KMZN. First pitch is scheduled for 12:27pm with the pregame starting roughly around 12:05pm. The game will also be available streaming onradiokmzn.com and on the KMZN mobile app.
