More Iowans will be able to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.  Governor Kim Reynolds says it’s not only because people between the ages of 18 and 65, regardless of underlying health conditions, are now eligible to get the vaccine.

“We have received our biggest vaccine allocation to date.  160,770 total doses between those that have been sent to the local public health departments and pharmacies that are participating in the federal vaccination program.”

During a Wednesday morning (4/7) press conference, the Governor expressed concern about vaccine passports that would be necessary for travel.  Reynolds says she continues to believe Iowans will do the right thing.

“While I believe in the efficacy of the vaccine enough to get it myself and encourage Iowans to do the same, I also respect that it’s a personal choice.  But I strongly oppose vaccine passports and I believe that we must take a stand as a state against them.”

Reynolds says she is prepared to take a stand against vaccine passports either through legislation or executive action.
