Football season is several months away, but the Iowa High School Athletic Association has given fans something to think about by releasing district assignments for the 2021 season.
In Class 4A, Oskaloosa, Newton and Pella are in the same district as Cedar Rapids Xavier, Clear Creek-Amana and Cedar Rapids Washington.
In Class 5A, Ottumwa is matched with Southeast Polk, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Linn-Mar, Waterloo West and Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
Grinnell drops to Class 3A and is in a district with Fairfield, Washington, Keokuk, Solon and West Burlington/Notre Dame. Also in Class 3A, Knoxville is matched with ADM, Atlantic, Creston, Harlan and Saydel.
In Class 2A, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont is in a district with Centerville, Davis County, Central Lee, Mid-Prairie and Williamsburg. Also in 2A, Albia and PCM are in a district with Chariton, Iowa Falls-Alden, Roland-Story and West Marshall.
In Class 1A, Sigourney-Keota and Pella Christian are in a district with Cardinal of Eldon, Central Decatur, Pleasantville and Van Buren County.
In Class A, North Mahaska and Lynnville-Sully are in the same district as Belle Plaine, Colfax-Mingo, Madrid, Ogden and Wayne.
And in 8-man football, Montezuma and Twin Cedars will be in the same district as BGM, Baxter, Grand View Christian, Melcher-Dallas and Woodward Academy. Tri-County will be in an 8-man district with English Valleys, HLV, Iowa Valley, Lone Tree, New London, WACO and WInfield-Mt. Union.
