Pella showed why its boys’ basketball team is ranked second in the state Tuesday night (1/5), as they beat Oskaloosa 68-35 in Oskaloosa. The Dutch scored the first nine points of the game and took it from there. Grant Nelson scored 17 points to lead Pella; Keaton Flaherty, returning from a four game absence, led Oskaloosa with eleven. Pella is now 7-0 on the year and 4-0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Oskaloosa is now 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the Conference. Oskaloosa plays at Indianola Friday night (1/8), while Pella will host number one Dallas Center-Grimes.
Looking at girls’ high school basketball from Tuesday, Pella defeated Oskaloosa 70-45…as Madison Naig scored 19 points and Jasmine Namminga added 17 to lead the Dutch. Oskaloosa trailed by six at halftime, but Pella tightened up defensively in the second half for the win. Presley Blommers scored 17 points to top the Oskaloosa scoring. Pella is now 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, while Oskaloosa is now 5-5 overall and 1-3 in the Conference. The Indians girls are at Indianola Friday night, while Pella hosts Dallas Center-Grimes.
