Beatles legend Paul McCartney dropped McCartney III, the third album in a trilogy, on Friday, December 18 via Capitol Records.
McCartney III features 11 songs and is a follow-up to 2018’s Egypt Station. McCartney III is also a sequel to McCartney II, released in 1980.
The album was recorded in Sussex, England, during the COVID-19 lockdown period.
“I was living lockdown life on my farm with my family and I would go to my studio every day,” the 78-year-old singer shared in a statement. “I had to do a little bit of work on some film music and that turned into the opening track. And then when it was done, I thought, ‘What will I do next?'”
The album was previously scheduled to drop last week but was delayed due to “unforeseeable production delays.”
