Monday night’s (12/7) girls’ basketball game between Oskaloosa and North Mahaska couldn’t have been much closer. Addie Schilling’s free throw with 3-point-8 seconds to play gave the Warhawks a 42-41 victory over the Indians. North Mahaska Coach L.E. Moore says it was a good game for both teams.
“We learned a lot about us coming ready to play. I don’t think they were ready because we’ve got a game (Tuesday) night against Lynnville-Sully, who’s been on our minds for a while. Oskaloosa’s certainly a nice team. They’ve improved. Coach Cunningham is doing a nice job. Those girls played hard for him and that’s important. I was very proud of my girls. We hung in there.”
Schilling led North Mahaska with 17 points. Aubree Blanco had 14 points and Jillian Jennings 13 to lead Oskaloosa. The Indians are now 1-3 on the season; North Mahaska is 2-1. Oskaloosa’s next game is Friday night at home against Newton; while North Mahaska travels to 8th ranked Lynnville-Sully tonight.
