Three high school football teams from the No Coast Network listening area are going to the Dome. Sigourney-Keota held off Columbus Catholic 35-32 Friday night (11/6) in the Class 1A quarterfinals. Sam Sieren rushed for 194 yards and three touchdowns for the Cobras, while Brady Duwa ran for 125 yards and two scores. The 10-0 Cobras will face 10-0 OABCIG, which is located in Ida Grove, in the 1A semifinals Saturday afternoon (11/14) at 12:30 at the University of Northern Iowa Dome. In 8-man football, Montezuma reached the Dome with a 62-35 victory over Easton Valley in Montezuma. Braves quarterback Eddie Burgess passed for 517 yards and seven touchdowns, four of them to Kodie Strong. The Braves improve to 10-0 and will face 10-0 Remsen St. Mary’s Thursday morning (11/12) at 9 at the UNI-Dome. That game can also be heard on 104.9 KBOE-FM.
And in Class 2A, PCM advanced to the semifinals with a 21-20 victory at East Marshall. The 10-0 Mustangs face Waukon in Saturday night’s semifinal.
In Class 3A football Friday, Cedar Rapids Xavier eliminated Grinnell 21-7.
