Sam Sieren rushed for 225 yards and four touchdowns Friday (11/30) as Sigourney-Keota defeated Beckman Catholic 35-14 in the third round of the Iowa Class 1A football playoffs.  The Cobras improve to 9-0 on the season and will host Columbus Catholic of Waterloo this coming Friday (11/6) in the 1A quarterfinals.  You can hear that game on KBOE-FM with kickoff this Friday at 7.

Also in Class 1A football Friday, Van Meter eliminated Pella Christian 39-23.  In Class 3A, Grinnell fought off Pella 6-0 with a Cole McGriff touchdown pass to Owen Coffman as the game’s only score.  Grinnell plays at Cedar Rapids Xavier on Friday.  In Class 2A, PCM blanked Greene County 42-0; the Mustangs play at West Marshall on Friday.  And in 8-man football, Montezuma remained undefeated with a 56-14 victory over BGM.  Braves quarterback Eddie Burgess passed for six touchdowns and ran for two more. Montezuma hosts Easton Valley in Friday’s quarterfinals.
