Stevie Nicks recently opened up about how she was dealing with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as well as the resurgence of Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 hit “Dreams.”
Speaking with Tracy Smith of “CBS This Morning,” Nicks admitted that she was blown away to see “Dreams” returning to charts after nearly 50 years due to a TikTok video going viral.
“This TikTok thing has kind of blown my mind,” Nicks said. “I’m happy about it because it seems to have made so many people happy.”
Nicks also reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Songwriters chart, for the first time since the chart’s 2019 launch, thanks to her writing credit on “Dreams.”
The resurgence of “Dreams” was driven by a viral TikTok video featuring Nathan Apodaca, who rides his longboard while drinking from a bottle of Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry juice and lip-synching the track.
Discussing the pandemic, which has canceled large events, Nicks said that the waiting is the hardest part.
“It seems like, for so many creative people, this is a very creative time. But, also, time is slipping away,” Smith said to Nicks.
“Time is being stolen from all of us,” Nicks said. “Absolutely. Especially if you’re 72 years old.”
