Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has released a new video for “Hate It When You Leave,” a classic from his 1992 solo LP Main Offender.
Jacques Naudé, who is the husband of Keith’s daughter Alexandra, directed the video, which features ordinary citizens across all stages of life. It begins with an empty road which leads into a collection of different moments of people working, at play, and interacting with one another.
Towards the end of the visual, Richards is seen sitting by the side of near fresh-cut flowers in a vase.
“‘Hate It When You Leave’ is something for your ears and eyes and for your hearts!,” Richards says of the new clip.
“The video portrays that the simplicity of life is what is most beautiful about the world and pays homage to people and places one loves, particularly at a time when family, friends and lovers have been kept apart,” stated a press release.
Richards also released the song as a limited edition of 4,000 red vinyl 7″ single for Record Store Day on Saturday (October 24).
The b-side features “Key To The Highway,” which was earlier available only on the Japanese version of the Main Offender album.
