A big comeback by Oskaloosa’s volleyball team. The Indians dropped the first two sets to Pella Christian Tuesday night (10/6), then rallied to win the match three sets to two. Pella Christian won the first set 25-22 and the second 25-21. Oskaloosa then took the third set 25-14 and the fourth 25-17 and the fifth 15-13 to win the match. Indians Coach Jennifer Comfort talks about what changed after the first two sets.
“I think our serve receive was better and I think we had smarter execution. We were seeing that block and we were making sure that we were swinging around it and we were being smarter with where we were hitting and how we were hitting the ball.”
Unofficially, Faith DeRonde led Oskaloosa with 22 kills with Maleah Walker adding a dozen. Pella Christian was led by Avey Amelse with 17 kills and Trinity Vos, who was in on ten blocks for the Eagles. Oskaloosa is now 11-6 overall and 3-3 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Pella Christian is now 13-11 overall and 2-4 in the Conference. The Indians are off until Saturday (10/10) when they host their invitational tournament.
