Oskaloosa football fans learned why Cedar Rapids Xavier is the top-ranked Class 3A team in the state. Xavier defeated the Indians 45-7 Friday night (9/25) in Osky’s Homecoming game. Xavier’s Jaxon Rexroth passed for three touchdowns and ran for another. Oskaloosa’s only touchdown came on a 24 yard run by senior Leland Evans in the fourth quarter. Evans led the Indians rushing attack with 79 yards. Osky junior receiver and defensive back Will Schultz left the game because of an injured right leg and had to leave the field on a golf cart; no word on his status. Oskaloosa is now 1-4 overall and 0-3 in District 6 play; Xavier improves to 5-0 and 3-0, respectively. The Indians play at Clear Creek-Amana this coming Friday night (10/2).
