It’s Oskaloosa’s Homecoming Friday night (9/25) as the Indians football team takes on number one-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier in a Class 3A District 6 matchup. This will be just the second time Osky and Xavier have met; the first time was in the 2017 playoffs, which Xavier won on their way to a State 3A championship. Oskaloosa Coach Jake Jenkins says he respects the Xavier program.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to play them and I have nothing but respect for Cedar Rapids Xavier. They deserve to be number one and they’re a darn good team in Class 3A. And I expect a tough, physical, well-coached team and that’s what you expect out of somebody like Coach (Duane) Schulte (of Xavier).”
Xavier comes into Friday’s game at 4-0, while Oskaloosa is 1-3. Kickoff time at Statesmen Community Stadium is 7:30. You can hear all the action on KMZN AM & FM and Radio KMZN dot com with pregame coverage at 7:15.
