Music legend Joni Mitchell has announced a massive new archive series. The first installment of the series, Joni Mitchell Archives Vol. 1: The Early Years (1963-1967), will drop on October 30.
The five-disc box set will feature six hours of unreleased home, live and radio recordings and 29 unreleased songs. The songs are from 1963-1967, before the singer-songwriter released her 1968 debut album Song to a Seagull.
The box set will also feature various cover songs, a 40-page booklet with photographs, liner notes that include conversations between Mitchell and Cameron Crowe, and more.
To accompany the announcement, Mitchell dropped a 1963 cover of “House of the Rising Sun,” which was recorded at CFQC AM radio station in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in her earliest known recording.
