Oskaloosa High’s volleyball team will have a new look this season. Junior outside hitter Faith DeRonde is the only returning player from last season. DeRonde was first team all-conference last year. Indians Coach Jennifer Comfort tells us where the biggest competition is for spots in the Osky lineup.
“Right now, I think the defensive specialist/libero position is one of the biggest ones. Because we’ve got four talented girls fighting for probably two, maybe three spots. But they’re all going to get their opportunities. We’re really keeping an eye on that position in practice. And the other one is finding our ‘terminators’ besides Faith. We know that she can put the ball away, but so do the teams that we’re playing.”
The Indians open their season Monday (8/24) at home with a tournament featuring Knoxville and Carlisle. That will start at 5:00 Monday at Oskaloosa High School.
