Several area athletes are on this year’s All-State softball teams, courtesy of the state’s softball coaches. New Class 3A champions Albia have two first team choices in Class 3A in Jena Lawrence and Alex Beard, with the Lady D’s Danica Workman getting third team honors. Also in Class 3A, PCM’s Riley Johannes is on the second team, with EBF’s Madysen Wade and Emalee Davis on the 3A all-state third team.
Ottumwa has two players on the Class 5A All-State team: Kacy Nickerson on the first team and Kaylee Bix on the third team.
In Class 4A, Oskaloosa pitcher Faith DeRonde earned third team All-State honors, with Grinnell’s Kaitlyn Kriegel on the 4A second team.
Three Pella Christian players earned Class 2A All-State honors: outfielder Chloe Morgan on the first team, Emri Agre on the second team and Cheyanne Collins on the third team.
And in Class 1A, Twin Cedars pitcher Grace Bailey earned first team All-State recognition, with Sabres teammates Rylee Dunkin on the second team and Brooke Roby on the third team. Three Lynnville-Sully players were also honored: Denali Conover and Caitlin Alberts on the second team and Mallory Loftus on the third team. Sigourney’s Megan Stuhr is also on the 1A All-State second team. And North Mahaska’s Chloe Bossard is on the 1A second team, with Warhawks teammate Madison McKay on the third team.
