Two Jasper County residents have died from coronavirus over the weekend. Those two deaths were among eleven new deaths reported over the weekend by the Iowa Department of Public Health. Since the pandemic began, 826 Iowans have died from COVID-19. And over the weekend, another 1016 new positive tests for coronavirus have been reported for a total of 42,016. 15 new cases have been reported in Marion County, with 13 in Wapello County, 11 in Jasper County, three in Poweshiek County and one each in Mahaska and Monroe Counties. Statewide, 226 Iowans are hospitalized with coronavirus, that’s down six from Friday (7/24), with 77 COVID-19 patients in intensive care units—that’s four more than Friday.
