It might have been the game of the year for the summer sports season. Lynville-Sully outlasted Sigourney 15-14 in 12 innings Friday night (7/17) in the Class 1A Region 6 softball semifinals. The Savages rallied from an 8-3 deficit to tie the game in the fifth inning, then scored another five times to go up 13-8 in the sixth. But Lynnville-Sully would come back with five runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score at 13. Each team scored a run in the 11th inning, then in the 12th, the Hawks’ Cayler Noun Harder doubled to bring in the winning run. Kaylee Weber had three hits, including a home run, and five runs batted in for Sigourney….with Megan Stuhr and Dani Richards also going deep. Noun Harder had four hits and four runs batted in for the Hawks. Lynnville-Sully will now host New London Monday night (7/20) at 7pm for the Class 1A Region 6 championship and a berth in next week’s State tournament. Sigourney’s season ends with a 15-5 record.
