Winter is supposed to be over, but it’s going to make another appearance in the No Coast Network listening area. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Wapello, Monroe, Keokuk and Washington Counties until 7am Friday (4/17). 6 to 9 inches of snow are expected in this warning area with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour possible this afternoon and evening. That snow is expected to be heavy and wet. There’s also a Winter Weather Advisory for Mahaska, Poweshiek, Jasper and Marion Counties until 7am Friday. One to 4 inches of new snow is forecast for the Advisory area. Travel could be hazardous and there is a chance that accumulated wet snow could take down power lines.
