Jon Bon Jovi has reached out to his fans across the world to request their help in writing a new song called “Do What You Can,” revolving around the struggles of making it through the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I did what I do best which was to sit down with my guitar and try to put something in words for you, maybe to brighten up your day,” the 58-year-old singer shared in a video posted to social media.
“I’m going to give you the chorus and the first verse. I’m going to play the second verse, but you tell me your story,” he continued. “Tell me what you’re going through. Tell me how you’re feeling. Tell me if you’re hurting.”
The first verse features the lyrics “I know you’re feeling kind of nervous/ We’re all a little bit confused/ Nothing’s the same, this ain’t a game/ We got to make it through/ When you can’t do what you do/ You do what you can.”
Bon Jovi also shared a few ideas for the fans to work with, including canceled graduations and proms, last paychecks, and having a baby on the way.
Meanwhile, Bon Jovi founding member and keyboardist David Bryan recently announced that he tested positive for coronavirus but said that he is feeling better.
The band’s 15th studio album, Bon Jovi 2020, is due out on May 15, 2020.
