All-female rock band Go-Go’s bassist Kathy Valentine is set to publish her memoir, “All I Ever Wanted: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Memoir,” on April 9.
According to the publisher, “Valentine’s story is a roller coaster of sex, drugs, and of course, music; it’s also a story of what it takes to find success and find yourself, even when it all comes crashing down.”
Along with the release of the autobiography, Valentine is releasing an accompanying soundtrack album featuring new original songs inspired by each chapter of her book.
In the memoir, Valentine shares the story about how she made her way from her home state of Texas to Los Angeles, where she joined what became one of the most successful all-female rock bands of all time. She also discusses her experiences meeting celebrities including The Police, Rod Stewart, John Belushi, Rob Lowe and many others.
To promote “All I Ever Wanted,” Valentine is lining up a series of appearances that will feature book signings, music performances and Q&A sessions with fellow musicians like Go-Go’s drummer Gina Schock, X’s John Doe, Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna, and Tanya Donnelly of Belly, and Throwing Muses.
The promotional tour kicks off March 28 in Woodstock, New York, and conclude on May 28 at Somerville, Massachusetts. More appearances are expected to be added to the itinerary.
