Sting is set to receive the Global Citizen Artist Of The Year prize for being a champion of saving the rainforests.
The Rainforest Foundation, co-founded by Sting in 1989, is fighting back deforestation and has so far protected over 33 million acres of rain forest.
The award includes $150,000 in prize money that will be donated to the Rainforest Foundation.
The winners of the Global Citizen Prize in three other categories also were announced.
Richard Curtis was named the recipient of the Global Citizen of the Year award.
Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina J. Mohammed won the Global Citizen World Leader Prize, while Chobani CEO Hamdi Ulukaya won the Global Citizen Business Leader Prize.
The Cisco Youth Leadership Award will be announced on stage at the Global Citizen Prize award ceremony, to be held at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on December 13.
