Iconic rocker Bruce Springsteen surprised attendees at a private event at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey, on Saturday night by performing a two-hour show benefiting Boston College.
Springsteen performed a 22-song set that included hits from his albums Born in the USA, Born to Run, Greetings from Asbury Park, The River, and more.
Springsteen was backed by New Jersey veteran Bobby Bandiera’s band and was joined by E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg mid-show as a surprise. Kings of Suburbia vocalist Layonne Holmes also joined for a cover of “The Boy From New York City.”
According to the Asbury Park Press, Springsteen’s son attended Boston College and the rocker previously played a benefit for the private Jesuit university in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, in 2011.
