Oskaloosa’s Xavier Foster announced Monday (11/11) he will play college basketball at Iowa State next year. The seven foot senior was recruited by several colleges, including Iowa, Providence, Kansas and Baylor…after averaging 14 and a half points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots a game last season as Oskaloosa won the State 3A championship. Foster talked about his decision.
“Just because of the relationships, really. Me and Tyrese (Cyclones guard Tyrese Haliburton) are good friends, we talk often. I don’t know. I just feel at home there. It was really just a gut feeling. Watching the games and then especially the Iowa State background, the atmosphere. It’s crazy there and it’s just something I want to be a part of.”
Foster says he expects to be a role player for the Cyclones next season. But first he has one more piece of business—winning another state championship at Oskaloosa. The Indians boys open their season December 3 at Fairfield. You can hear Oskaloosa High basketball all season on KBOE-FM and the No Coast Network.
