The Iowa high school football playoffs kick off Friday night (11/1). The Oskaloosa Indians play at Lewis Central in Council Bluffs in Class 3A. The Trojans are the third seed in the tournament, while Oskaloosa is 16th. Indians Coach Jake Jenkins says Lewis Central plays in the toughest district in the state—and won it.
“Lewis Central, Glenwood, Harlan. All three of those teams are in (the playoffs) and then you have ADM in fourth place and ADM is not a bad team at all. That district is absolutely loaded. So to have three teams come out of it. Lewis Central, they lost to Harlan. Harlan’s tough, as we know, a perennial powerhouse. Harlan did beat them, but all those teams are really, really solid teams. So I’m excited to play a new team, a team that’s traditionally been a 4A team.”
You’ll remember Harlan defeated Oskaloosa in last year’s playoffs. Kickoff from Council Bluffs is at 7; you can hear the game on KBOE-FM and KBOE Radio.com with pregame coverage starting at 6:40.
