The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the nominees for the Rock Hall Class of 2020 on Tuesday, and nine out of the 16 artists named in the list are first-time nominees.
The top five vote-getters, to be announced in January, will take part in the 35th Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, be presented by Klipsch Audio, at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 2, 2020.
Pat Benatar, Dave Matthews Band, The Doobie Brothers, Motörhead, The Notorious B.I.G., Soundgarden, T. Rex, Thin Lizzy and Whitney Houston are the nine artists that made it to the list for the first time.
Among the other nominees are Kraftwerk, who was nominated five previous times, and MC5, who earned nominations four times before.
Rufus, featuring Chaka Khan had been nominated thrice before, while Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode had been nominated twice earlier.
Judas Priest (nominated for Class of 2018) and Todd Rundgren (nominated for Class of 2019) are the others named in the list.
