Rock & Roll Hall of Famers ZZ Top have canceled the first four dates of their 50th Anniversary Tour of North America after drummer Frank Bear was diagnosed with pneumonia.
ZZ Top were set to kick off their 50th Anniversary Tour on August 16 in Ridgefield, Washington, but now the trek will commence on August 21 in Woodinville, Washington.
In addition to the Ridgefield, Washington show, ZZ Top have canceled scheduled concerts for August 17 in Airway Heights, Washington; August 18 in Vancouver, Canada; and August 20 in Yakima, Washington.
ZZ Top’s official website says, Beard “apparently came down with the ailment while on the band’s just completed tour of Europe and, upon his return home, was advised by his physician to rest and recuperate.”
ZZ Top’s 50th anniversary tour features a total of 50 dates and is plotted out through a November 9 show in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The band, consisting of Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Beard, have 15 studio albums and 30 million record sales to their credit. Cheap Trick and Lynyrd Skynyrd are also expected to join the tour intermittently.
