Former Kinks keyboardist Ian Gibbons has died at the age of 67. The Kinks spin-off group The Kast Off Kinks said on their official website that Gibbons passed away suddenly on Thursday.
Kinks guitarist Dave Davies described Gibbons as a positive and optimistic guy.
“He was the perfect professional. I never had any problems with him and we got on really well. My heart goes out to his family and friends at this difficult time. He added a lot of color to the Kinks music,” Davies said.
“To simply say Ian will be missed would be an understatement,” added Kinks co-founder Ray Davies. “My first thoughts are for his family and loved ones.”
Gibbons was a part of the English rock band for a decade beginning in 1979. He returned to the group years later and remained with the group till their breakup in 1996.
