Iconic rocker Bruce Springsteen is within striking distance of obtaining the mythical “EGOT” status after he was nominated for an Emmy on Tuesday.
The singer-songwriter earned an Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Variety Special (pre-recorded) category for the Netflix original Springsteen on Broadway.
If Springsteen wins the award, he will earn the coveted “EGOT” collection of an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony. Springsteen has already won 20 Grammy Awards, one Academy Award and one Tony Award.
Only 15 people currently boast “EGOT” status, with John Legend, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice being the latest to earn the title.
Previously, Richard Rodgers, Helen Hayes, Rita Moreno, John Gielgud, Audrey Hepburn, Marvin Hamlisch, Jonathon Tunick, Mel Brooks, Mike Nichols, Whoopi Goldberg, Scott Rudin and Robert Lopez have also won all four competitive awards.
