A tough loss for the Oskaloosa High baseball team. Eighth-ranked Fairfield defeated the Indians 2-1 Tuesday night (7/9) in Oskaloosa after the Indians led most of the game. Rian Yates’ RBI single in the first inning put the Indians in front. Junior Noah Van Veldhuizen took it from there, pitching five scoreless innings—allowing just two hits while striking out eight. Then in the seventh, Fairfield rallied….getting one run on a Carter Ferrel single and the go-ahead run coming in on a wild pitch from reliever Tyler Miller. Fairfield improves to 22-4 on the year; Oskaloosa is now 18-9. Wednesday night (7/10), the Indians will host 7th ranked Centerville at 7:30.
