A woman from Colfax is in hot water for what she allegedly said to a Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy as he was taking her to jail. Around noon on July 3, a Deputy was called to a home on Fan Avenue about a woman who was using pepper spray on people. The police report says 23-year-old Kathryn Vanhorn had sprayed her live-in boyfriend with pepper spray. She was arrested for first degree domestic abuse assault. As Vanhorn was being taken to the County Jail in Newton, she shouted at the deputy, claiming she was going to kill him and his family when she got out of jail. The report goes on to say that Vanhorn said she was going to stab the deputy with a knife she had concealed in her pants. The deputy pulled over and searched Vanhorn; it turns out she didn’t have a knife. Because of those statements in the patrol car, Vanhorn is also facing a charge of first degree harassment.
